The Dynamic Approach
Dynamic probing is a
rapid and economical drilling technique used to provide a continuous
ground strength profile. The probe works by using a free falling
weight to drive into the ground and oversized cone, followed by
a series of graduated rods.

|
The number of blows taken to drive the cone every 100mm is noted
and the results then plotted onto a graph with number of blows
against depth. The strength profile is extremely useful in gathering
information like the variable strengths of cohesive and non-cohesive
soils within a borehole, the rapid determination of rockhead,
the extent of the made ground accross a site and for assisting
in pile design.
The dynamic probe can also be used to spike the ground for gas monitoring and for the installation of piezometers available for the use under your direct instruction. |
